Alan is the founder and chief head of Musiqtone, having founded the site, then called MusicMania with fellow Purdue student Peter Burke. He is the main catalyst behind Musiqtone, bringing the music site from obscurity thanks to a partnership Ho forged with Seattle-based digital entertainment firm CDigix, which also gives Musiqtone the keys into the college market. He is also the brainchild behind You Gotta Know, which profiles two acts from the indie and the underground and has turned YGK into the flagship feature and the most sought-after prize for musicians looking for a name. He also has forged key partnerships with AOL Music and Billboard and established a rapport with the top of the crop in the underground, helping them get big. He has also forged press ties with various major recording labels, the most recent Interscope/Geffen Records and Warner Bros.
Ho brings almost 8 years of experience in the music industry, beginning with analyzing music charts and dreaming of being the next Kasey Kasem, and writing music critiques in the classical music world.
Alan Ho was born June 14, 1984 in Arlington Heights, IL and is a current resident of Hoffman Estates, IL. He currently lives with his parents and younger brother and has an older brother in Michigan. He is a 2002 graduate of Palatine's William Fremd High School, where he also did Scholastic Bowl, Model United Nations, Orchestra, PAB, and ran track. He also attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where he majored in Organizational Leadership & Supervision.
He enjoys playing baseball, basketball, football, and golf, having played the former two and latter for many years. He also enjoys watching the first three sports mentioned and is an ardent supporter of Purdue football, basketball, North Carolina Tar Heels basketball, and is probably one of the biggest Cubs fans on the planet. His music ranges from alternative to pop to R&B to some hip-hop to rock. And on the side, he also can design and develop web sites, dish advice from being a former peer counselor, and arm him with an XBox and he might challenge you to a multi-player game of Halo.
He currently also works as a senior-level computer lab aide at Harper College in the Chicago northwest suburb of Palatine, IL to help pay a few bills and marginally support Musiqtone financially.
