Matt White : Probably this year's pre-John Mayer Trio John Mayer, the East Coast native struck gold by landing a song on the CW teen drama 'One Tree Hill.' Already wielding a large following, Matt looks to set the standard on the singer-songwriter mantle, a mantle still unclaimed after James Taylor went into the music twilight many years ago. Many have held it before, but can Matt be the new standard-bearer? Time and only you can tell.
The Veronicas : The Donnas certainly didn't want it. But Australian import twins The Veronicas bring their high-energy hard pop and grrrl power and could be over time the girl group to be exactly what the once high-flying Bangles were in their heyday in the 1980s. The V's have image appeal, attitude, and talent...now can they keep it all together? Find out on their upcoming tour!
Jonas Brothers : As bands like Simple Plan and Good Charlotte age, there's another young and hip pop-punk band to take their place. That falls under the care of the Jonas Brothers, who first burst on the scene with their song 'Mandy,' which would have turned Barry Manilow's head around.
Danity Kane
: Diddy strikes gold again and once again proves he can be quite the master at crafting groups. Arguably the most successful 'Making the Band' alums ever, the girls look for higher heights and a right to be right there with girl groups like T.L.C., Destiny's Child and the Pussycat Dolls. Time will tell whether or not they can get past that dastardly 'Making The' curse. O-Town lasted about 3 years, the last one didn't even get off the runway due to infighting.
Akon: Move over R. Kelly and Usher. There's another silky smooth man in town, and he can even rhyme with the best of them too! The Senegalese import is tearing up the music industry, seeing time with Eminem, charming the girls with the song 'Don't Matter' and is so smooth overall that Gwen Stefani needed him all to herself as she grabs him for her headlinig tour, starting April 2. Smack that, indeed!
Pussycat Dolls: They are music's biggest and best accident, not to mention when they first burst on to the music scene, a very big surprise. Started off as a burlesque troupe whose alums include Dita Von Teese and Christina Applegate, their creator turned around and remolded the Dolls into the biggest acts in music history, helped with the tabbing of former Eden's Crush lead Nicole Scherizinger. Now armed with hit singles up the wazoo, the group is currently looking to add another Doll, which you can see on your local CW affiliate.
