This year, Meghan Trainor made her grand debut into the musical charts. The twenty year old singer-songwriter from Massachusetts had already found a bit of success in Nashville writing for artists such as Rascal Flatts and teen pop sensation R5, but it was her song “All About That Bass” that set her apart. With a refreshing sound that mixes pop with a little bit of doo-wop, Trainor has already found her way to the top of the Billboard charts. Her sound is unique to what other artists doing and her catchy female empowering lyrics are sure to win her more fans.  The release of her Title EP gives listeners a preview of what to expect from this artist and it doesn’t disappoint.

The first track “All About That Bass” is the first single that Trainor has released and it has already found a lot of success. Shooting into the Number 1 spot on the Billboard Charts, “All About That Bass” has received many positive reviews. Its catchy beat and body positive lyrics have labeled it one of the best self-loving anthems. With lyrics such as “Every inch of you is beautiful from the bottom to the top”, Trainor preaches body acceptance to everyone regardless of their size. Already a hit, “All About that Bass” has people everywhere dancing along to its infectious beat and has given Trainor a signature sound.

The title track for the EP appropriately called “Title” follows. Again with the female empowering lyrics, Trainor sings about how she will not just be a booty call for a guy. With today’s more liberal hook up culture, Trainor gives the guy an ultimatum to give her the title of girlfriend or she is gone. “Title” is a shoe in to be a go to song for girls who are in the same situation. The lyrics are relatable and written in a way that can mimic an actual conversation with someone. Guys be warn, girls are going to be dedicating this song to some of you.

The following track “Dear Future Husband” is basically an open letter to the future husband stating “a few things he should know if he wants to be the one and only”. A clever way to state what she is looking for in a guy, Trainor once again has that doo-wop sound that makes you want to get up and dance along to the song.

The last track on the EP, “Close Your Eyes” is also a self-loving anthem. A slower track than the rest, “Close Your Eyes” starts off with some guitar picking and leads into a calm melody that build up towards the end of the first verse. “I guess I could waste all my time and my money just trying to look right but it doesn’t change who I am in my heart if I look like a dime” are lyrics meant to inspire people to realize that they are beautiful without trying to change anything. A message that Trainor is trying to deliver throughout the whole song, “I know I’m beautiful” are sure to serve as a message of inspiration for many people, especially the teenage girl demographic.

It’s only been a couple of months since Meghan Trainor has landed in the prominent music scene but she has in no way gone unnoticed. The singer-songwriter has gained a chart topping hit with “All About That Bass” that is featured in her Title EP. Serving as a preview to her album, Title features a great combination of songs that allows listeners to get an idea of who Trainor is. She is a talented songwriter in addition to being a  talented singer and someone who is not only changing the sound of music on the radio today but also delivering powerful messages at the same time. With songs that are definitely worth checking out, Title will have you dancing around and feeling beautiful.
