Cherri Bomb
Cherri Bomb
Cherri Bomb, a new all teenage girl rock band based out of California, has toured with the likes of the Smashing Pumpkins and played major festivals such as South By Southwest.  Who are these girls? What’s next for these rocker chicks? I got to talk to Miranda Miller, from Cherri Bomb to find out!

Maura:How did Cherri Bomb come to be formed? What are you guys about?
Miranda: Well, Julia started the band and she’s our lead guitarist. She posted flyers in music stores and on Craigslist and everything. She found Nia first, and then she found me, through Craigslist and flyers! We asked Rena to be our bassist because we were looking for one at the time. She played guitar and she learned bass for us, so that’s how the four of us formed.  We’re about proving that anyone can do anything they want to do. Just because we’re four teenage girls doesn’t mean we can’t play rock music just like everyone else wants to.

That’s awesome! So, where did you guys get the name Cherri Bomb?
Nia and Rena had a book called Cherry Bomb by Carrie Borzillo. It had a lot of little stories and tips on how to be like a rock chick! We found that it really fit our personalities, and so we decided to name our band after the book!

You’re all pretty young to be immersed in the world of music business so quickly. How are you all handling it?
Well, sometimes we forget that we’re younger than everyone else that we’re with, when we’re out on tour and stuff like that. It’s kind of like having a bunch of big brothers because we’re around a lot of older guys and girls who have been in the music business for a long time. But there is a lot of pressure, and we’re just happy that we have each other to help each other through it. It’s all worth the pressure for doing what we love!

You guys have performed with some major artists like the Smashing Pumpkins and at major festivals like SXSW, has it been difficult to take it all in?
There are a lot of people behind us and we work really hard for ourselves and for the people that are supporting us. So, sometimes it’s hard because we want to do our best. But it’s been absolutely amazing so far, working with Billy Corgan, working with the Foo Fighters. Some of our idols have really supported us in what we’re doing. And getting to play SXSW and those experiences as well, it’s really giving us a head start on being where we eventually want to be which is taking over the world!

Your debut album This Is The End Of Control comes out May 15th? How are you guys preparing for it and how excited are you?
We’re preparing by wishing it was coming out sooner! We’re so excited for this to come out. We’ve been doing more performances and posting about it on Facebook and our blogs and everything, because we want everyone to know about it, so as soon as it comes out we want to hear what people think! We’re just so excited because it’s our first album and everyone’s real first impression of Cherri Bomb!

What would you say to young girls out there who look to you as a source of inspiration/as a role model?
I’d say don’t let anyone get in the way of what you want to do. You have one life, so take any chances you get!

What or who inspires you?
I find inspiration in a lot of things, we all do! My main inspiration in music is Paul McCartney! There are musicians, there are actors, there are writers, and I pull inspiration from a lot of things.

Well, thank you so much for talking to us. Congratulations and good luck with everything, it sounds like you’ve got a pretty good thing going!
Thank you so much!

You can check them out at or at! Their debut album drops May 15th, so be sure to pick it up!
