When you think of EDM, you think of the traveling Spring Awakening festival or anything that has been made in pop music and charted out the last few years, Even alt-rock groups have fused EDM elements. But wait a second, just hear this out: what do you get when instead of fusing EDM in music, what if EDM was the one fusing your music?
The answer is simple. BUNT. No, not the baseball term you tell pitchers to lay down to get baserunners in scoring position because you can’t hit a lick. No. BUNT. As in the German brainchild of friends Nicolas Crispin and Levi Wijk, both 23.
They take their EDM music and fuse it with healthy doses of folk, country and plenty of banjo, creating a whole new sound and genre from within EDM like no other. The late Avicii tried to create it but it couldn’t gain enough traction. But these two German friends have taken what he tried to create and build upon a whole new set of sounds and continue to add as time has gone by.
Now, the sound is EDM with fused elements such as folk, Americana, country, soul, jazz and classics pop. In order to truly appreciate and experience the BUNT (means colorful in German) journey, take a look at the new music video to “I Don’t Miss You,” shot in the famed French Quarter in New Orleans .
