Who: Sarah McGowan
Where: Darian, CT
For fans of: Joni Mitchell, Maren Morris, Liz Phair, Kacey Musgraves, Ingrid Michaelson
You may have heard her music on TV, such as NBC’s Superstore, ABC’s Mistresses and Netflix’s Cable Girls. But the Connecticut native, now based in Los Angeles has proven herself the highly capable pop chameleon, swapping out her folk-pop tunes for something a bit brighter, breezier, slicker and edgier, putting her closer to the center that are inhabited by the likes of Ingrid Michaelson, Liz Phair,Sheryl Crow with a touch of Kacey Musgraves and Maren Morris. Her new song “Molly” got some airtime on the NPR podcast “51 Percent” where it went alongside Dolly Parton and earned quite the accolade, calling “Molly” a “modern-day Jolene.” Now that is quite the praise there!
Her new EP, A Little Intimate will be out on June 28. In the meantime, before that happens, get to know Sarah through her music! We got “Leave You Lonely” and “It Felt Good” to get you started on this potential breakout act!
