For Chicago's Madina Lake, one can say they have been to the music industry version of hell and back following the much-talked about vicious attack on bassist Matthew Leone last summer while breaking up a fight between a man and the man's wife last summer. The attack left the band's bassist in serious condition and doctors had to remove one part of his brain in a life-saving operation and a very long recovery time that was met with some tumult; the band subsequently was dropped by Roadrunner Records and later on, their management. But through it all, Madina Lake had theee things they can count on: themselves, the music community and...their music.
I got a chance to sit down with Matthew's brother Nathan for a very candid and in-depth Hot Seater where we discussed just about everything, starting off with Matthew's recovery and condition and why he chose to bear no ill will towards his brother's attacker, the inspiration behind their upcoming album "World War III", their third album and first with growing major label player Razor & Tie (Dave Barnes, Kevin Devine, Vanessa Carlton, The Summer Set), why they chose to sign with Razor & Tie and what lies in store for the band next.
